The Musical

5th and 6th class were making a musical for the school, St Felims and the parents. The musical was called YE-HA. I was in the musical it was REALLY fun performing it. I really enjoyed being a part of it. The musical we did, called YE-HA, was about the wild west and a chef that became the sheriff of the west. I and some of my friends were children. Mrs.Miley and some other teachers put really hard work into it and so did we all. I think the musical we performed was FANTASTIC!!

St Clare's News

Last week in school we had a news report on everything that has been happening in St.clares, like the mobile cinema which Gabriella told us about.5th class and 4th class went to she told us about the experiments they did and after watched Wallis and grommet. Next they talked about cross country which Letitia told us about all the girls that had been training very hard and got third place out of over 50 schools. After that they talked about the school play Ye-Ha and Benita talked about her character for the play which is Billy-Jo-Brisket (tickets can be bought in the office €5 each on the 9th and 10th of December) but the girls have been working very hard. The swimming Gala will be taking place on the 9th of December, all the girls have been working very hard after school on Friday. Benny talked to us about the 1st class play and his character, he will be one of the three wise men in the story of when Jesus was born. The whole school has come up with a plan to be better at problem solving. What we do is   all the classes in the school have to solve problems in their class every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The school have a board where all the classes has a month to up  their own problems and this month it is our classes turn to up ours up . We all picked one and wrote it down and put it up on the board in the hall for all of December so you can see them for the rest of the month.

Mobile Cinema

The mobile cinema was in our school yesterday. They taught us that long ago Cavemen  ate nuts and fruit every day till they discovered a rock in a shape of a club. Then they discovered weapons to kill animals. They also showed us a plunger and a roll of toilet paper that was used as an aeroplane’s wing. We also watched two movies  called death and love and the other one was wrong trousers.  It was great fun.

Dance Lessons

Last Thursday we went dancing. Our dance instructor is called Mary. First we warmed up, then we learned the dance. At the start we had to kneel down and jump up like dominoes but going up instead of falling down. Then we had to do a pose and hold it until everyone is standing up. Next we had to lift our arms one by one and bring them down. Then we lift our arms together and bring it down and lift it up together and bring it down. Next we had to turn to a side and take three steps then turn to the front and clap then turn to the other side and take three steps and turn to the front and clap again. Now we had to turn to the back take three steps and face the front and clap, then turn to the front and take three step and clap. After that we had to turn around and take a step and click then take another step to the other side and click ,then we had to turn around clockwise and do the same thing ,take a step and click then take a step and click then take another step and click. Now we moved our shoulders up and down, while we were doing that we moved to the centre and leaned to the side then the front, the other side, the back then stand back up. After that moved back to our positions and that was it. We are going to learn the rest next Thursday. It was so much fun. We are all looking forward to our next dance lesson.

Legends, Riddle and Magic Tricks!!!

On Tuesday we went to the library to hear a man read a book for us. When we got there, there was another class from another school there, they were 5th class too! He read Irish myths and legends. One of them was Fionn the giant. He also gave us riddles and questions. One of them was what do devils eat but if we eat it we will die. The answer to that is nothing. He also did magic tricks. He had a book with pictures that weren’t coloured then he closed the book and when he opened it all the pictures were coloured. He also read a book called the monkeys paw. That book was my favourite of them all!

Lava lamps

Miss Masterson made cool lava lamps with the class and these lucky ladies got to take them home.

Dance

The school is now doing dance class due to swimming being finished on Thursdays. It is a good sport and is very energetic which is great for PE. The cost for dance is 5 euro. Enough with the money, dance class will be great fun for all of the school and we will get a good time out of it. Many may already be good dancers but it doesn’t hurt to still do it. Now that the school does dancing I’m sure it isn’t that boring others think it is!

1916 Centenary

On Wednesday two members from the Irish army presented our school with a national flag and the Irish proclamation to mark the 100th anniversary of the 1916 Easter Rising. The whole school gathered in the hall and we all sang the national anthem. On the 16th March 2016 we will raise the flag outside our school.

What we've been up to...

In school we went to the library. We got to pick out a book to read for a week and brought it back to the library. It was so fun and after we got to take a class picture with the books. The next day we all got to make a smoothie out of banana, honey, strawberry and strawberry yogurt. We blended it all and it turned out great!!! We wrote how it tasted while drinking it. It was so so yummy!! I want it again. After a few weeks we started swimming. It’s on every Thursday. It’s only on for six weeks and at the end of the week we get to go on the slides. Today we dug sand and found things from the past, we found a coin called punt. Lots of cool stuff was there. We got our hands dirty but we had so much fun!!!

Tin Whistle

Last week our class started tin whistle lessons. Our tin whistle teacher’s name is Padraig. We are learning to play The Kerry polka and Oro se do bheatha abhaile. Padraig gives us sheets with the notes of the songs we have to play. I think we sound really good when we all play together in time. But we need to practise. It’s exciting to learn to play music and maybe we might get to play in a school concert. Don’t forget to comment on our class blog!

Making smoothies with Ms Masterson

This morning the girls made yummy, healthy smoothies with Ms Masterson in the staff room. They used their own recipes that they wrote in class  yesterday. The smoothies were delicious, healthy food doesn't have to be boring!

Our trip to the library

On the 10.09.15, our class went to the library. We read books and Ms. Fitzpatrick our teacher took some pictures. She also had a library card for the whole class so everyone could borrow a book. My book is called Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator by Roald Dahl. It is about eight people, their names are grandma Josephine and Georgina, grandpa Joe and grandpa George, Mr and Mrs bucket, Charlie Bucket and Mr Willy Wonka in a glass elevator in outer space. They couldn’t breathe so Mr Willy Wonka pressed a button in the elevator for oxygen and then they could breathe. I really enjoy reading the book. When we got out of the library, our teacher took a class picture and then we walked back to St Clare’s. We all had a good time.

Time Capsule

This week we made a time capsule. We traced around our foot to make our footprint and we painted our hands, stuck them to paper to make our hand print. We put a picture of our class into the time capsule along with our hand print and foot print. We also put our hopes for fifth class in the time capsule. We can’t open our time capsule until June.
